New videos from your channels,

Plainfeed shows only new videos from the YouTube channels you pick, in chronological order. No recommended videos or Shorts mixed in, and live streams appear at the time they started. Use it right away without signing in, or sign in to see the same lists on your phone and computer.

How to copy a channel URL

To add a channel to Plainfeed, you need its URL. Any of these formats works.

Computer

  1. On YouTube, click the channel name to open the channel page.
  2. Copy the URL from the browser's address bar.
  3. Paste it into the URL box in Plainfeed's Channels and click Add (the first time, Add by URL on the home screen takes you there).

You can also paste the URL of a video you're watching (watch?v=…). The channel that posted it is added.

YouTube app on your phone

  1. Tap the channel name or profile picture to open the channel page.
  2. Tap ⋮ (More) in the top right → Share → Copy link.
  3. Open Channels in Plainfeed (the first time, Add by URL on the home screen), paste it into the URL box and tap Add.

You can also tap Share → Copy link on a video you're watching and paste that; the channel that posted it is added. Menu names may differ slightly between app versions. If you can't find the menu, open the channel page at m.youtube.com in your phone's browser and copy the URL from the address bar.

Import subscriptions from YouTube

  1. Tap Import from YouTube on the home screen or in Channels (an icon in the top right on phones).
  2. Choose the Google account you use for YouTube and allow the View your YouTube account permission.
  3. When your subscriptions appear, pick only the channels you want. Nothing is selected at first; use "Select all" or search by name to choose quickly. You can have up to 30 channels, so you can pick only as many as you have room for.
  4. Channels already in My channels show as "Added".
  5. When you import again, your remaining imported channels start a fresh 30 days from that day, and channels you've unsubscribed from on YouTube are removed. If you have no new subscriptions, it finishes right away without the picker.

We ask only for permission to view your subscriptions. Plainfeed can't change your account, such as uploading videos or posting comments. The imported list is saved in this browser (and in your account if you're signed in), and under YouTube's policy it must be re-imported every 30 days. After 25 days, an Extend now button appears above the timeline. If you miss the deadline, those channels are hidden from your list and feeds (and deleted from the server); import again within 30 days and the ones you're still subscribed to come back, in the same feeds. Channels → Disconnect removes the imported channels and revokes Google access (a Google window may briefly appear). You can also revoke access anytime under third-party connections in your Google Account.

Sort channels into feeds

Group channels by topic, like gaming, news or cooking, and each feed gets its own tab showing only new videos from those channels.

  1. Tap ⋯ at the end of the tab bar and choose New feed.
  2. Name the feed, check the channels to include and tap Save. A tab for the feed appears.
  3. To add channels later, open ⋯ → Edit feed on that feed's tab and check them.

You can have up to 3 feeds. A channel can be in more than one feed. To remove a feed, tap Delete feed at the bottom of the Edit feed window. Deleting a feed keeps its channels.

Play and Continue watching

Play your unwatched videos

Tap ▶ Play (▶ and a number on phones), to the right of the tabs and left of Channels, to play your unwatched videos in timeline order, newest first. The number is how many unwatched videos you have. When one ends, the next one starts. Turn off Autoplay next below the player to watch one at a time. To skip a backlog without watching it, choose ⋯ → Mark all watched at the end of the tab bar. Every unwatched video in the current tab is marked as watched, and you can Undo for a few seconds.

Pick up where you left off

Videos you close partway get a progress bar under the thumbnail and collect in Continue watching, under ⋯ at the end of the tab bar. Open one again to resume where you stopped. Once you've watched nearly all of it (over 90%), it leaves Continue watching and plays from the start next time. Removing a channel also removes its videos from Continue watching; they come back if you add the channel again.

Unwatched Watched — shown by the dot on the left of the timeline. A video counts as watched after 30%, or once you move past it in the player's list. A live stream in progress counts after 1 minute.

Playback history stays in this browser (and in your account if you're signed in). It isn't linked to your YouTube watch history.

Share a feed with a link

On a feed tab, choose ⋯ → Copy share link to copy a link. Anyone who opens it can preview that feed's new videos and tap Add to my feeds to add it to their own lists. If you already have 3 feeds, or adding it would take you past 30 channels, delete a feed or some channels first.

The channel list lives inside the link, so nothing is stored on the server (up to 30 channels per link). Editing the feed later doesn't change links you've already sent, so share it again after changes.

Sign in to keep everything across devices

Tap Sign in in the top right (the person icon on phones) and sign in with Google to save your channels, feeds, watched videos and playback positions to your account. Sign in with the same account on another device and everything carries over, with nothing else to do. You can even pause on your phone and resume on your computer.

Without signing in, your lists live only in this browser and are deleted if you clear the browser's site data. Sign in to keep them long-term or use them on other devices. To move just one feed to another device, you can also use a share link.

FAQ

Do I have to sign in?

No. Every feature works in this browser without signing in. Sign in only if you want the same lists on your phone and computer.

Is my information stored on the server?

Without signing in, all your lists stay in the browser. When you sign in, your lists are saved to your account to sync between devices, keeping only your Google account's unique ID, not your name or email. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Why are there no Shorts?

Plainfeed is for calmly watching videos in the order they were posted, so videos 3 minutes or shorter (Shorts) are left out.

How do live streams appear?

Live streams are placed at the time the stream started, not when they were posted. Streams in progress are marked LIVE, and those scheduled to start within 24 hours are marked Upcoming; upcoming streams appear above the "Now" line at the top of the timeline. During a stream, YouTube live chat opens in the Chat tab on the right. Live and upcoming streams aren't included when you play unwatched videos with ▶ Play.

Where can I see comments?

Open a video and the Comments tab on the right (below the video on a phone or tablet held upright) shows YouTube comments sorted by top. When you're watching several videos in a row with ▶ Play, the Up next tab listing the following videos opens first. Hide below the video closes the side panel and makes the video bigger (or centers it on an upright screen), and the same button, now Comments, opens it again (on a phone held sideways, Hide is above the panel and the button to reopen it is to the right of the video). Videos always open filling the window. To close one, go back (on a computer, Esc works too). On a computer the video follows the size of your browser window, and Full screen below the video fills the whole screen, hiding the tabs and address bar too. Android phones open videos straight into full screen. For the video alone, use the full-screen button inside the YouTube player. Tap a time in a comment (like 19:37) to jump the video there, and tap N replies to open the replies right below. To comment or like, tap "Comment on YouTube" and do it on YouTube.

How do I subscribe to a channel?

This site doesn't ask for permission to manage your subscriptions, so you subscribe on YouTube. Tap the video title or the YouTube logo inside the player to open it on YouTube. If a live chat is for subscribers only, subscribe on YouTube and open the video again to chat. Some channels make new subscribers wait a few minutes before chatting.

How quickly do new videos show up?

Usually within 30 minutes of being posted. While the page is open, it checks again every 10 minutes.

Why can't I see older videos?

The timeline shows only videos from the last 7 days. You can extend it to 14 or 30 days in My channels under Channels. Since only each channel's 15 most recent videos are fetched, channels that post a lot each day may show a shorter period. For older videos, visit the channel page on YouTube.

How many channels can I add?

You can have up to 30 channels and 3 feeds, whether or not you're signed in. When you're full, removing a channel makes room for another.

Can I put it on my phone's home screen like an app?

Yes. On iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen in Safari; on Android, tap Add to Home screen (or Install app) in the Chrome menu (⋮). An icon appears and it opens like an app, without the address bar. Its lists and sign-in may be separate from your browser's, so sign in once when you first open it.

Can I use Plainfeed in Korean?

Yes. Click the Korean link in the footer at the bottom of the page and the app and guide switch to Korean; this device remembers your choice. If your browser's language is Korean, Plainfeed opens in Korean from the start.

Is there a dark theme?

Yes. Each tap of the theme button next to Sign in at the top right switches Auto → Light → Dark, and this device remembers it. The icon shows the current choice (half circle for Auto, sun for Light, moon for Dark). With Auto, Plainfeed follows your phone or computer's dark mode setting.

Where do videos play?

They play on this site in YouTube's official player. Views and ad revenue go to YouTube and the creators as usual. To watch on YouTube, tap the video title or the YouTube logo inside the player (on a computer you can also Ctrl-click, or ⌘-click on a Mac, a video in the timeline to open it on YouTube in a new tab).
