Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026 (added the contact email and our commitment to handle requests within 7 days. October 27: added that the server signs up for YouTube's new-video notifications for requested channels so new videos show up sooner. October 25: channel names and image URLs are no longer stored on the server; the browser fetches them again instead. Imported channels past the deadline can be restored by importing again. October 24: updated to match how the service actually works regarding information sent to the server, stored video information, account deletion, Continue watching and images loaded from other sites)
This English translation is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Korean version, the Korean version prevails.
Plainfeed (the "Service") is a website that collects new videos from the YouTube channels you choose and shows them in the order they were posted. The Service uses YouTube API Services. By using the Service, you are deemed to agree to this policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
1. Information the Service handles
If you don't sign in: stored in this browser
The following information is stored in your device's browser storage (localStorage). The Service does not store your lists on its server (values sent when checking for new videos are described under "Information sent to the server" below).
- The channels you added (channel ID, date added, and name and image URL) and your feeds. Channel names and image URLs come from YouTube, so they are fetched again and updated each time new videos are loaded, and deleted if they could not be fetched again for 30 days
- Watched-video marks, playback position per video (stored together with the video title, channel name and ID, thumbnail URL, upload date and video length so you can resume), and display settings (timeline period, autoplay next, language, theme, etc.)
- The most recently fetched list of new videos (kept until the next fetch so it shows quickly when you reopen the site; anything older than 30 days is deleted)
- If you imported subscriptions with your Google account: the imported channels and the date each channel was imported
- If you are signed in: your Google account's unique identifier and sync status (used to clear the previous account's lists first when you sign in with a different account), and the name, email and profile picture URL of your Google account shown in the top right of the screen
Clearing your browser's site data deletes all of it. If you are signed in, the lists on this device are deleted when you Sign out.
If you sign in: stored on the server for use across devices
When you sign in with your Google account, the lists above are stored on the Service's server (Cloudflare D1) so they look the same on your phone and computer.
- Account information: Only your Google account's unique identifier (sub), sign-up date and last access date are stored. Your name, email and profile picture are not stored on the server (they are kept only in this browser for display).
- Lists: Channel list (channel ID, date added, and the import date for channels imported from Google; channel names and image URLs are not stored on the server), feeds (name, channel IDs, date created), watched video IDs (most recent 3,000), playback position per video (most recent 300, including video title, channel name and ID, thumbnail URL, upload date and video length), and display settings (timeline period, autoplay next, date of last import from Google)
- Staying signed in: A cookie (
pf_session) keeps you signed in. It is valid for 30 days and extended while you use the Service, but you must sign in again 180 days after you first signed in. The server stores only a hash of the cookie value. - Retention period: Kept until you delete your account. Account menu in the top right (your name) → Delete account immediately deletes your account and all your lists from the server. Items removed from your lists are kept for 5 days only as a marker without content, to notify your other devices, and then deleted. Deleted data remains in database recovery records kept for outages (Cloudflare D1 Time Travel) for 7 days on the free plan or 30 days on a paid plan before disappearing automatically, and is not used for anything other than outage recovery.
- This information is not used for advertising, analytics, sale or any purpose other than syncing between devices, and is not given to anyone else.
Information sent to the server
To load new videos and comments and to add channels, the Service sends YouTube channel IDs and video IDs (and the comment ID when you expand its replies), as well as the channel URL (or @handle or video URL) you enter when adding a channel, to the Service's server. The server uses these values to fetch public information from YouTube (channel RSS, names and images, video length and view counts, public comments and replies) and stores it briefly. This cache is not linked to who made the request; it is cleaned up daily, and entries older than 30 days (1 day for comments and replies) are deleted. To show new videos sooner, the server signs up with YouTube (Google) for new-video notifications for channels requested in the last 30 days, and fetches that channel's RSS ahead of time when a notification arrives. For this, the server stores only the channel ID and when it was last requested, never who requested it, and deletes channels not requested for 30 days. The Service also sends the display language (Korean or English) so error messages can be shown in that language; this is not stored.
The Service runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process access logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations.
2. Using your Google account (optional)
Sign in with Google
"Sign in with Google" is used only to identify you through Google Sign-In. From the sign-in verification information Google sends, the Service extracts and stores only your account's unique identifier.
Importing YouTube subscriptions
When you tap "Import from YouTube", the Service separately requests only the permission to view your YouTube account (youtube.readonly).
- Use: Used only to load your YouTube subscriptions (channel ID, name, profile image) and add the channels you choose to My channels.
- How it is processed: Your subscriptions are requested directly from Google by your browser. The access token is never sent to or stored on the server and expires after about 1 hour. The channels you choose are stored in your browser and, if you are signed in, also in your account along with your other lists to sync between devices (only the channel ID and import date in your account).
- Retention period: Channels imported from Google are automatically deleted from both the browser and the server 30 days after the date each channel was imported (or re-imported). The server cleans up once a day, and the browser checks and removes them from your list when you open the site and every 10 minutes while the page is in view. So they can be restored when you import again, the browser keeps only the removed channels' IDs and the feeds they were in, hidden on this device (never sent to the server or shown). When you import again, only channels still in your newly loaded subscriptions are restored and the rest are deleted. If you don't import again, they are deleted after 30 days, or when you tap "Delete", disconnect or sign out. After 25 days, you are prompted to import again.
- What we don't do: The Service does not make changes to your account, such as uploading videos, posting comments or changing subscriptions. Subscription information is not used for advertising or any other purpose, and is not given to anyone else.
Revoking access
Channels → Add channel → Disconnect immediately deletes the channels imported from Google and asks Google to revoke the access you granted to this Service (a Google window may briefly appear). If revoking fails, you'll see a notice on screen; in that case, please revoke it yourself on the third-party connections page of your Google Account. You can revoke access on that page at any time. If you are signed in, the channels are also removed from your lists on the server right away, and the deletion markers used to notify other devices are all deleted within 7 days.
The Service's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. External content and cookies
- Videos are played in the YouTube embedded player (youtube-nocookie.com; the player script is from youtube.com), and live chat is shown in the chat window provided by YouTube. In this process YouTube (Google) may use its own cookies or device information, which is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google's sign-in script (accounts.google.com) is loaded for the Google sign-in button and for importing subscriptions. A sign-in button rendered by Google appears in the sign-in menu in the top right, and Google may use its own cookies at that point even if you don't sign in.
- Thumbnails and images of channels and comment authors are loaded directly from YouTube's servers. If you're signed in, the profile picture in the top right is loaded directly from Google's servers.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
- Apart from the sign-in cookie (
pf_session), the Service itself does not use cookies for advertising or visitor analytics. If we ever add advertising, we will update and announce this policy first.
4. Your rights
You can view and delete stored information directly on the site. See channels in Channels, feeds in the feed tabs, and videos you paused in the Continue watching tab. The Continue watching tab shows only videos from your channels. Playback positions for videos from channels you removed or from shared feeds stay among the latest 300, reappear if you add that channel again, and can be deleted in the ways below.
- Channels: delete channels one by one · Edit feed → Delete feed: delete a feed
- Sign out: the lists on this device · Delete account: your account and all lists on the server (and the lists on this device)
- Disconnect: channels imported from Google and Google access
- Clearing the browser's site data: everything stored in this browser
For any other request, please contact us at the address below. We will handle your request and let you know the result within 7 days.
